Meet Brittany
I am passionate about health and life coaching because I've been devoted to personal development since my twenties and love that I can inspire others to be their authentic selves.
My obsession with health and nutrition began when I was a teen, consumed with the need to resolve digestive and emotional issues. My healing journey led to many therapies and training in Steps to Leadership, a Psychology of Vision course, which provided the frameworks for undoing conditioned beliefs, behaviors and patterns – the underlying causes of health and psychological issues.
As a highly sensitive empath, I learned early in life how to cope with feeling different and the hurt that arose from being told I was too sensitive. I learned to block out my sensitivity to the point of becoming very ill. I could not process food and emotionally could not digest life's stresses. This struggle with my health then became an obsession with germs, and in 2003, I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Cognitive Behavioral Therapy played a significant role in my recovery process and helped me recognize and shift my hypervigilant fight, flight or freeze survival responses, which had become so isolating.
OCD was a significant setback that thwarted my passion in life – dance. Thankfully, I was drawn to Hatha yoga and yoga teacher training which provided the needed breathwork to help with the anxiety. It helped me face fears, return to dance, and reconnect with people. Still, there were more challenges to overcome. In 2014, I was in a car accident that caused post-concussive syndrome, a brain injury that heightened my sensitivities like crazy. Sight, hearing, and smell intensified and became extremely painful and overwhelming. My brain has had to slowly rewire itself to regulate, which takes time and patience, along with my other body injuries.
My previous experience with CBT taught me to use small incremental steps to recover from these injuries. Self-care was imperative and has served as the impetus to train in health and life coaching, an approach to whole health that inspires me to live my most desired life. My most lasting approach has been to trust each changing moment, let go of having a set diet plan, and keep
nurturing my self-value.
I'm a Cheerleader for Self-Care
Because I know what it’s like to go through life challenges, I can relate to the many struggles that my clients experience, which helps them feel seen and understood. These visceral experiences have given me a generous capacity for compassion and an equal understanding of what it takes to get to the other side of obstacles.
I’m a cheerleader for self-care, as I believe it’s how to best manage the impact of stress on our biological and psychological systems. Self-care is the way of the future – balancing our whole physical, emotional, mental and spiritual body. Treating all health as equally important is imperative in caring for ourselves and others.
My Purpose
My deepest desire is to help alleviate the overwhelm many highly sensitive and health-challenged persons struggle with. I know from experience what it’s like to receive kindness and acceptance, and to be heard, seen and understood. I know what it’s like
to take one incremental step at a time, to slow down and heal. It takes time, and that time is precious.
I am here to hold space, with an open heart, go through the steps with you and give you digestible tools to help cultivate a deeper connection to your inner wisdom and value.
My Approach
I am your guide, partner, cheerleader, and reflection in this self-discovery process. When providing you with coaching, I am dedicated to helping you create lasting change. I work with you to uncover what you value and what you need for self-care and help you create and maintain healthy practices. My goal is to help you experience self-acceptance and the courage to evolve. With self-love, healing is possible.
I am an ICF (International Coaching Federation) certified coach with a dual certification of health and life coaching. I integrate both approaches and tap into years of personal therapy, Psychology of Vision, dance and yoga sensibilities. I will use my skills and empathy to best serve your needs. I will listen with compassion, ask questions, offer non-judgmental feedback, and make suggestions when necessary.
As your coach, I will help you develop goals and gently challenge you to take the steps required to achieve them.
To further my commitment, I offer a free 30-mins consultation. The initial session is a 90-minute discovery meeting, followed by my Embodied Transformational Program, which can be taken in three series of 4-sessions or the entire 12-session program. Click here to find out more.
